Present Head
History
Lunawaton-ka-Kheda was a hereditary estate (thikana) of the Lunawat Sisodia Rajputs within the historic princely state of Mewar (present-day Rajasthan). The thikanedars of this estate traced their lineage to the renowned Sisodia dynasty of Udaipur through Rawat Lunaji, whose descendants formed the distinct Lunawat sub-branch. Granted their jagir for martial valor and loyalty to the Maharanas of Mewar, the chieftains of Lunawaton-ka-Kheda contributed contingents in regional campaigns, oversaw agrarian revenue administration, and maintained feudal governance over their lands through the Mughal and British periods until the integration of Mewar into the Union of India in 1949.
